CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF VIENNA
	PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
	SPECIAL MEETING  12-18-02
	Chairperson Curtis opened the meeting at 6:00pm and led the Pledge of Allegience.
Present:	Vernon Curtis, Scott Preseau, Ben Ranger, Gery Giltinan, Dale Frappier, Lee Garner,
	Robert Palmer, and Mary Johnson.
Absent:	Max Schweitzer.
Communications:	Letter from Dennis and Karen Nichols in favor of the proposed Master Plan.
	Letter from Karen Mason in favor of the proposed Master Plan.
Unfinished
Business:	Continuation of Public Hearing for Master Plan.
	Chairperson Curtis said the discussion on the new Master Plan at last meeting
	centered on C-2 zoning and several residents from the Webster Rd area did not want
	that zoning in their area. He then presented a compromise on the zoning west of
	I-75 on Vienna Rd.
Audience
Comments:	Comments from the audience included being pleased the Board was willing to
	compromise. People want smart growth and not just west of I-75. Questioned the
	designation of the Office/Research zoning. Questioned why the Board would change
	what the plan said and take off a lot of C-2 zoning.
Board
Comments:	Chairperson Curtis reminded the audience that hundreds of hours had been spent
	putting together this new Master Plan, and that the Board always listens to the
	residents. The 1st presented plan was the best for everyone, and the 2nd plan with
	the amendments is 2nd best.
	Other comments included: The Board appreciates everyones input. Agree with the
	compromises. Likes multiple housing to protect farmland.
	Motion by Curtis, seconded by Ranger to approve the Master Plan with amendments.
	Voting yes: Preseau, Giltinan, Frappier, Garner, Ranger, Curtis.
	Voting no: None
	Absent: Schweitzer.   Motion carries.
	Motion to adjourn by Garner, seconded by Frappier. Meeting adjourned at 8:05pm.
