CLIO AREA LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES

AUGUST 13, 2003

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by President Mike Zinn.  Those present were Mike Zinn, Sue Thomas, Sandra Vuillemot, Carmon Fox, Debora Turnbow, custodian Brian Vuillemot, library representative Pat Peterson, and librarian Mary Keep.  Sue Smith was absent.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:  M. Zinn read a letter from Sue Smith explaining her absent from the meeting. 

 

MINUTES:  A motion by C. Fox, seconded by S. Thomas to approve the minutes of May 14, 2003.  All yeas.   A motion by S. Thomas, seconded by C. Fox to approve the minutes of July 9, 2003.  All yeas.

 

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  While cleaning in the children’s room a cardboard cutout was moved and names were found on the wall.  B. Vuillemot said they have some paint and will correct the problem.  The computer towers are on the floor now which will give the patrons more room for papers and books around the computers.  M. Keep will be composing a news letter concerning the library.  The Customer Service Survey has been completed and Clio Library did well.

 

BILLS:  A motion by S. Vuillemot and seconded by C. Fox to pay the bills in the amount of $2,592.91.  All yeas.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  A motion by D. Tunnbow and seconded by S. Vuillemot to approve the Treasurer’s Report for July 31, 2003.  All yeas.

 

CUSTODIAN’S REPORT:  B. Vuillemot reported he used the Round-up on the weeds and then used the weed wacker in the front flower garden so it would look better.  The carpet has been cleaned again and a lot of the stains were cleaned.  A new flush handle was installed on the stool in the women’s restroom.

 

COMMITTEE REPORT:  None

 

OLD BUSINESS:  S. Smith contacted a Girl Scout Troop to weed the front garden but the troops don’t meet in the summer.  Bids were received for replacement of the compressor in the air conditioner unit.  Ken Spears bid $1,460.00; D & B $2,375.00 and Worthing’s $2,290.00.  Before we vote we need a written estimate from. Ken Spears.  S. Vuillemot brought in a catalog with sizes and prices for carpet mats at the computer table.  A motion by D. Turnbow, seconded by C. Fox to purchase 11 carpet mats for $200.00.  All yeas.  S. Thomas spoke with Alice Hart concerning the Energy Grant and no monies are left this year.  A. Hart will call when more money is available through the Greater Flint Community Foundation.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  None

 

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion by C. Fox, seconded by D. Turnbow to adjourn the meeting at 6:02 p.m.  All yeas.
