CLIO AREA LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
OCTOBER 8, 2003
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by President Mike Zinn . Those present were Mike Zinn, Sandra Vuillemot,
Carmon Fox, Sue Smith, Debora Turnbow, custodian Brian Vuillemot, library representative Pat Peterson, and librarian Mary Keep. Sue Thomas was absent.
COMMUNICATIONS: A copy of the audit was distributed to the board members. There were no other communications.
MINUTES: A motion by S. Smith, seconded by C. Fox, to approve the minutes of September 10, 2003. All yeas.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: The library has been very busy. New shelves have been put up behind the Service Desk. An old black file cabinet has been emptied and is ready for disposal. The drawers are rusted and hard to open. M. Keep ask if it was necessary to lock the bathroom doors when locking up the library at night. B. Vuillemot told her the bathrooms used to be kept locked all the time. B. Vuillemot also reported that cigarette butts have been found in the men’s room. M. Keep said she would keep a close check on this problem as NO SMOKING is allowed in the bathrooms. M. Zinn reported that the windows by the book drop leaked during the last rain. M. Zinn will check with Bob Palmer to see if they can repair that problem.
BILLS: A motion by S. Vuillemot, seconded by C. Fox, to approve payment of the bills in the amount of $2,154.34. All yeas.
TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion by S. Vuillemot, seconded by D. Turnbow to approve the treasurer’s report of September 30, 2003. All yeas.
CUSTODIAN’S REPORT: B. Vuillemot reported that he cleaned out the front flower beds and he will submit a bill next month. Light bulbs are running low again so Brian will get a case. M. Zinn will check to see if anyone else uses the 4’ bulbs and if so he will check the price for Brian.
COMMITTEE REPORT: None
OLD BUSINESS: The floor mats for the computer tables will be delivered on October 9th. A needs hearing will be held at Vienna Township and the number one priority will be discussion on building a new Senior Center.
NEW BUSINESS: D. Turnbow attended the finance committee meeting for the City of Clio to ask about compensation for those from the city serving on the library board. She was turned down. Debora feels she has no choice but to resign from the library board. All the board members told her she will be missed but they respect her position in this matter.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion by D. Turnbow, seconded by C. Fox, to adjourn the meeting at 5:55 p.m. All yeas.
