The SHIP’S committee has agreed to sell their property to Vienna Twp. for the construction of a senior center. Details are to be worked out between Vienna Twp. and the SHIP’S executive committee. Herb Nelson will make a recommendation to the Vienna Township Board.

Herb suggested a “Ways & Means” committee to research the cost of maintaining a new building and also a Finance Committee.

Motion made by Kathy Taylor to form a financial committee, and a committee to research maintenance costs.  Supported by Kathy Ridley. All Yea’s

Ann Anderson will post it in her newsletter asking for any volunteers to help serve on these committees.

Discussed the size of the proposed senior center and what the cost could be to build it.  Herb will talk to Greg Mason (CHMP) to see if he has figures as to the cost of maintaining a building 17,000 sq. ft. Vs 12,500 sq.ft.

The group discussed various ways to try and reduce costs. Some of these suggestions were:

Change direction of garage, use vinyl instead of brick, make the patio a later phase, rearrange kitchen area, change interior to drywall.

Motion made by Jack Edwards, supported by Laurel Coe to reduce the size of the senior center from 17,000-sq. ft. to 12,500.
