Clio Area Library Board Minutes

August 11, 2004

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by President Mike Zinn. Those present included Mike Zinn, Carmon Fox, Sue Smith, Sue Thomas custodian Brian Vuillemot, Pat Peterson from GDL and Clio librarian Andrea Shacks.

 

Sue Smith volunteered to be secretary for this meeting.

 

Communications: Advertisement from American Funds

 

Minutes: Motion by Carmon, second by Sue T. to approve minutes of July 14th with one correction on who made a motion. All yeas.

 

Librarian’s Report: The summer reading program ends on August 14th. On August 22nd those who completed the program will go to Crossroads Village. 190 children successfully completed the program in the first round. Book discussion group will start Sept. 23, 6:30 p.m. and will discuss To Kill a Mockingbird for their first book. Teen area chairs are in. Still waiting on table and pictures. This was paid for by a grant from Clio Area Foundation. Coffee is still being served, although only 1 pot per day for the summer. There was a power problem that affected air conditioning and the elevator. The old couch is in the children’s room and needs to be re-upholstered or replaced. Mike will look into re-upholstering.

 

Bills: Motion by Carmon, support by Sue Thomas to approve bills in the amount of $2582.97. Nearly ½ of the amount is Consumers Energy. All yeas.

 

Treasurer’s Report: All revenues have been received for this year. Motion by Sue Smith, second by Sue Thomas to approve. All yeas.

 

Custodian’s Report: Brian ordered new larger toilet paper rolls. Replaced 4 bulbs. Painted over graffiti. Fixed drinking fountain leak. Took 1 ½ hours to fix. Mike Zinn reported that we will be getting billed for leak in upstairs air conditioner. Worthing was called in to repair.

 

Committee Reports: None

 

Old Business: Sue Thomas reported that our revised estimate for lighting project is $8315. She has not heard back yet. Decision was made on August 6th.

 

New Business: None

 

Adjournment: Motion by Sue Thomas, support by Carmon to adjourn at 5:57 p.m. Meeting adjourned.
