Petitions: 1. Public Hearing for Anthony & Tara Altenritter at 11469 Water St.
Chairperson Curtis spoke on the ZBA hearing on 8-10-06 for this issue, and the
numerous variances that were granted.
Mrs. Altenritter said the home was a duplex when they bought it and they have done
a lot of work on it to make the second part habitable.

Bob Palmer said this is a duplex on a small lot and it can't meet the setbacks without
the variances. He said perhaps they can rebuild with the property rezoned, but with a
different configuration.

Mike Zinn asked why on the Realty Summary the house is classified single-family.
Bob Palmer said the construction was done without a permit.
Mike Zinn said it's a bad situation and it's hard to hold the current owners responsible.

Chairperson Curtis opened comments to the Audience:   None.

Chairperson Curtis said at the ZBA Hearing he told Mr. Altenritter the solution was
to tear down the middle wall and turn that space back into a garage and that's why
he voted against the variances.

Doug Chilson said he hesitates to make a bad situation worse.

Gery Giltinan said the Commission faces this problem a lot, and perhaps the new
owners didn't know.

Ben Ranger said it's a duplex now and the owners don't live there. He can't see the
harm in rezoning.

Motion by Ranger, seconded by Zinn to recommend rezoning to the Township Board.
