| Chairperson Curtis opened the meeting at 6:00pm and led the Pledge of Allegiance. | |
| Present: | Vernon Curtis, Doug Chilson, Max Schweitzer, Gery Giltinan, Mike Zinn, Ben Ranger, |
| Bob Palmer, and Mary Johnson. | |
| Absent: | John Krieger. |
| Minutes: | Motion by Schweitzer, seconded by Zinn to approve the minutes of 9-11-06 as |
| presented. All ayes, motion carries. | |

| Comm: | October 9, 2006 is a Holiday and there will be no Planning Commission meeting. |
| Repts of Comm: | None. |
| Petitions: | 1. Public Hearing for Anthony & Tara Altenritter at 11469 Water St. |
| Chairperson Curtis spoke on the ZBA hearing on 8-10-06 for this issue, and the | |
| numerous variances that were granted. | |
| Mrs. Altenritter said the home was a duplex when they bought it and they have done | |
| a lot of work on it to make the second part habitable. | |
| Bob Palmer said this is a duplex on a small lot and it can't meet the setbacks without | |
| the variances. He said perhaps they can rebuild with the property rezoned, but with a | |
| different configuration. | |
| Mike Zinn asked why on the Realty Summary the house is classified single-family. | |
| Bob Palmer said the construction was done without a permit. | |
| Mike Zinn said it's a bad situation and it's hard to hold the current owners responsible. | |
| Chairperson Curtis opened comments to the Audience: None. | |
| Chairperson Curtis said at the ZBA Hearing he told Mr. Altenritter the solution was | |
| to tear down the middle wall and turn that space back into a garage and that's why | |
| he voted against the variances. | |
| Doug Chilson said he hesitates to make a bad situation worse. | |
| Gery Giltinan said the Commission faces this problem a lot, and perhaps the new | |
| owners didn't know. | |
| Ben Ranger said it's a duplex now and the owners don't live there. He can't see the | |
| harm in rezoning. | |
| Motion by Ranger, seconded by Zinn to recommend rezoning to the Township Board. | |
| Voting yes: Ranger, Zinn, Schweitzer, Giltinan. | |
| Voting no: Curtis, Chilson. Motion carries. | |
| 2. Set Public Hearing for Terry Potter Rezoning. | |
| Motion by Giltinan, seconded by Zinn to set the Public Hearing for 10-23-06. All ayes. | |
| 3. Lucky's Steakhouse Site Plan for Signage. | |
| Randy Evans, Mid Thumb Signs, was present and said the sign will be a monument | |
| style, 3 x 10, aluminum with a brick base. | |
| Chairperson Curtis opened comments to the Audience. None. | |
| Chairperson Curtis opened comments to the Board. | |
| Bob Palmer said the sign meets the regulations in the Master Plan and this first sign | |
| will set the standard. | |
| Gery Giltinan asked if the brick will match the building and was told yes. | |
| Chairperson Curtis asked how far for the bike path the sign will be and was told 20'. | |
| Motion by Zinn, seconded by Chilson to approve the sign for Lucky's Steakhouse. | |
| Roll call vote. All ayes, motion carries. | |
