CLIO AREA LIBRARY BOARD TRUSTEE MEETING
MAY 14,
2008
The meeting was called to
order at 5:30 p.m. by President Mike Zinn. Those present were: Mike Zinn, Sue
Thomas, Sandra Vuillemot, Ethel Howell, Sue Smith, librarian Darwin McGuire,
and GDL representative Kelly Richard.
Those absent were: Ilene
Marshall, and custodian Brian Vuillemot.
Bob Smith was the substitute for Ilene Marshall.
COMMUNICATIONS: Magazine on parking lot supplies, and the
MINUTES: A motion by S. Smith to approve the minutes
of April 9, 2008, seconded by E. Howell.
All yeas.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: The library door count is up for April but
circulation is down 12.77%. Don’t
exactly know why but it could be related to gas. Author and horticulturist Melinda Myers spoke
on April 10, attracting 57 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child. On April 11, the 3rd annual Poet’s
Café was held and even with the severe weather 6 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child
shared and enjoyed poetry. The summer
reading program will run from June 16 to August 2. Other specials are also being scheduled.
BILLS: A motion by E. Howell to approve the bills in
the amount of $3,358.34 which includes the cost of having the foundation
painted, seconded by S. Vuillemot. All yeas.
TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion by S. Smith to approve the
Treasurer’s report for April 30, 2008, seconded by S. Thomas. All yeas./
CUSTODIAN’S REPORT: Brian reported that he is finding cigarette
butts in the ladies room. The hand towel
dispenser has been installed in the upstairs bathroom.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: None
OLD BUSINESS: We have received some estimates on replacing
the furnaces, we
would like more information on the warranty of the different furnaces. The replacement will be scheduled for after
July. The Clio Library agreement and
by-laws were passed out so we could all look them over to see if any changes
are needed.
NEW BUSINESS: None
ADJOURNMENT: A motion by E. Howell to adjourn the meeting
at 6:05 p.m., seconded by S. Smith. All yeas.
