CLIO AREA LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES

OCTOBER 1, 2008

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:31 p.m. by President Mike Zinn.  Those present were:  Mike Zinn, Sue Thomas, Sandra Vuillemot, Sue Smith, Librarian Darwin McGuire, and GDL representative Kelly Richard.  Those absent were:  Ethel Howell, Eileen Marshall, and custodian Brian Vuillemot.  The guest for the meeting was Edward Elsner who will be the librarian at Genesee Valley Mall branch, and was spending time with Darwin to see how things are done.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:  “Thank You’ note from Worthing’s for having them do the new furnace work.

 

MINUTES:  A motion by S. Thomas to approve the minutes of September 10, 2008, seconded by S. Smith.  All yeas.

 

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  Door count is still holding fairly steady.  The circulation count should be better known in a few months.  The Storytime sessions held September 15, 22,and 29 were very well attended with 55 children and 44 adults.  The October calendar is full of varied programs and in November on the 6th Knitting Knatters for teens will be held from 4:00p.m to 6:00 pm., and at 6:00 p.m. a Digital Camera Workshop will be held and must be pre registered for.  On November 15 Uncle Harry’s Express will at Crossroads Village, and tickets will be availabe at GDL libraries after November 1, 2008.  On November 22, Steve Belliveau will present a program about “Get Excited About Science.

 

BILLS:  A motion by S. Smith to approve payment of our bills in the amount of $1,819.82, seconded by S. Vuillemot.  All yeas

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  No report due to the fact that our meeting is being held a week early and the report information is not yet available.

 

CUSTODIAN’S REPORT:  Jeanie ask about painting the window sills and after discussion Darwin feels painting of the full library will need to be done in the next year or so.  Jeanie has signed the waver.  Men’s room soap dispenser came of the wall and it has been repaired.  To assist in cleaning of the window ledges and small areas Mark will be asked to purchase a small hand held vacuum.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  The new by-laws have been passed out to the board members.  Vienna Township will go over the changes to the Agreement the second week of October.  Thetford will meet in November to go over the Agreement.  The dumpster report was not available because E. Marshall was absent.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  None

 

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion by S. Smitht to adjourn the meeting at 6:00 p.m., seconded by S. Thomas.  All yeas.
