CLIO AREA LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES

JUNE 10, 2009

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by President Mike Zinn.  Those present were:  Mike Zinn, Sue Thomas

Sandra Vuillemot, Gregg Bryan, Sue Smith, Eileen Marshall, librarian Darwin McGuire, and GDL representative Kelly Richard.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:  None

 

MINUTES:  No minutes this month.

 

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  The door count is still up and should continue to rise during the summer months and the circulation is up by 6.98%.  The upcoming events for July are Ming the Magnificent Magic Show on the 9th at 11:00 a.m.; on the 21’st at 6:00p.m. is a Sculpture Workshop with the Flint Institute of Arts for teens and tweens.  This is a hands on workshop.  Stories with Mother Goose for a fun time of  

 of rhymes and stories on th 22nd at 10:00 a.m.; on the 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Cirque Amongus, a live circus, will be held; at 6:oo p.m. and 8:30 p.m. also on the 23rd a TeenFusion talent show will be held.   On August 8th & 9th Crossroads Village days for summer readers who have earned tickets.  Sunday’s are doing well and attendance is growing.   Parking lot stripping has been done as well as direction arrows and traffic seems to be moving through the parking lot easier.

 

BILLS:  A motion by E. Marshall to approve payment of bills in the amount of $10,304.53, seconded by S. Smith.  All yeas.  This bill amount includes $4,074.00 for insurance that will be paid on July 1, 2009.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  A motion by E. Marshall to approve the Treasurer’s Report of May 31, 2009, seconded by S. Thomas.  All yeas.

 

CUSTODIAN’S REPORT:  None

 

OLD BUSINESS:  The lights got fixed at the front door and the Children’s room.  The proposed Library Agreement from Thetford Township has been delayed so S. Vuillemot and G. Bryan can set up a meeting with Shelly at Thetford Township.  Randy Dodge will come to the next meeting to present cost changes for the dumpster that are required by Waste Mangement.  An estimate was received from X-Trusted Carpet in the amount of $715.00 to clean the library carpet.  K. Richard will E-mail S. Thomas with names of GDL carpet companies they use so we can get some more quotes.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  G. Bryan will check into stimulus money that may be available to the library for “green changes”.  A motion by E. Marshall to approve the budget changes, seconded by G. Bryan.  All yeas.  Linda Vance took care of the flowers again and she will send us the bill for the flowers.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion by E. Marshall to adjourn at 6:15 p.m., seconded by S. Smith.  All yeas.
